RAIN
The McCabe Board has a three-word approach to rain and baseball games: Plan to play.
When it rains on game day, we will do its best to give parents ample warning about game cancellations*. We cancel games in three blocks — morning, afternoon and evening — and will do our best to send out cancellation notifications 45 minutes before the start of each block:
While this is our plan, weather is always unpredictable and humans are imperfect, so please be patient with us when weather threatens to cancel games. Our preference is for games to be played if at all possible, so we will often wait as late as we can to cancel anything.
When weather forces us to cancel games, we will notify parents in two ways: a league-wide email and Instagram/Facebook posts. If weather looks threatening, please be on the lookout for these notifications.
* Note: Practice cancellations are handled differently. We will only cancel practices if the fields are unplayable. Field closure notifications will not follow a schedule and will come out as the weather dictates.
HEAT
Summer in Nashville is hot! As kids return to school and sports, they are not conditioned to the heat and humidity that late August and September often bring. McCabe Park Little League is committed to keeping our kids and coaches safe above all else.
First and foremost, parents should monitor the weather and always make the decision that is best for their child. Families will never be penalized for missing a practice or game because of heat or weather. We are relying on parents to be the first line of defense so please — if the weather doesn't feel safe for your child, don't send them!
League Policy for all outdoor play:
Our Spring 2026 season is underway and we are no longer taking late registrations.
The next available season is Fall 2026: Registration will open on June 1. Practices and games run August-October, exact dates TBD.
If you don't already, please follow us on social media and/or sign up for our email to stay in the loop about McCabe events and future registration dates — and check out our FAQ if you have any questions.
